Man Utd Transfers: 9 Players Louis Van Gaal Must Clear Out Immediately

9. Alexander Buttner

It is fair to say that Alexander Buttner has hardly taken the Premier League by storm since joining Manchester United from Dutch side Vitesse in 2012. In two seasons he has made only 28 appearances in all competitions, just 13 of those coming in the league. The 25-year-old is a solid player and would be a good signing for a mid-table side, but is he United quality? No. A problem with the Red Devils last season was that there were too many average players, meaning that first team regulars, like Patrice Evra, were not pushed for their starting spot. United are believed to be closing in on Luke Shaw, with the Telegraph reporting that a £27million bid has been made for the Southampton left back. The 18-year-old€™s arrival means that Buttner would once again be playing second fiddle, a scenario neither him or United should approve of.
