Man Utd Transfers: 9 Sub-Par Players Who Need To Be Sold

4. Ryan Giggs

The Welshman has already cemented himself in the roll of honour at Manchester United. He will be considered a legend forevermore and rightly so, but now's the time to hang up the boots. He needs to retire. In all honesty, he should've retired when Sir Alex left the club. It was the perfect time to do so and no questions would've been asked, he would've been given the send off he deserves and that would be it. Yet he decided to continue as a player, as well as starting his coaching role. It's admirable but it's a wrong call, which is being backed up by some poor performances he has shown this season. Manchester United are in a period of huge progression. It's all change at the club but yet here stands the oldest of the old guard. If he stepped aside it would allow another player the chance to get a good run in the side and add valuable experience to their progression. What exactly does Ryan Giggs offer now? As a coach he would still be there to guide the young players, in fact he would be doing a lot betting by just being a coach. His poor performances are tarring his reputation a bit. Let me emphasise the 'a bit' there, as you can't tar the legacy he's left on the field too much. This year he's been frustrating. What's more frustrating is the fact that he's still playing. Keeping him as a player is more hassle than it is worth, no one will complain when he retires as he has done his job for years. Quit while you're ahead, as the saying goes.
