Man Utd Transfers: Predicting 5 Signings David Moyes Could Make In August

1. Luka Modric

Luka Modric Even if United miss out on Fabregas and sign Fellaini instead, the champions still need one more central midfielder in our view. We've already touched on the Red Devil's midfield crisis but there's no getting away from it - their engine room is in trouble and has been for quite some time. Ever since United's defeat to Barcelona in the 2011 Champions League final, cracks have started to show in midfield. Barca's ruthless outclassing of the English side that day helped expose them. A squad that once boasted the likes of David Beckham, Roy Keane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes now includes Nani, Ashley Young, Tom Cleverley and Anderson. This is something that needs addressing this summer and United's midfield needs a serious injection of quality. Don't be fooled - Luka Modric, voted worst signing of the season for 2012/13 though he was, is still quality. He just didn't settle in Spain. A return to England could help revitalise his ill-fortunes along with United's engine room and there's little questioning the creative Croatian would be a terrific replacement for Scholes. United need to stop dithering this month and make this deals happen.
