Man Utd Transfers: Predicting Louis van Gaal's First 10 Signings

6. Ezequiel Garay

Another option for us at centre-back is Ezequiel Garay of Benfica, a long-term target of ours who may finally join this summer, according to the Metro. Our interest in Garay can be traced back to the Sir Alex Ferguson administration while David Moyes also had an interest too, and it could be that this long-winded saga comes to a head one way or the other in the close season. A bid of £8 million may well be enough to land the powerfully-built Argentinian - who draws comparisons to both Ferdinand and Vidic - and that would seem like a steal considering how much we're prepared to pay for Shaw's services. If Ferdinand does join Vidic in leaving this summer, we'll be in the market for a new centre-half, and there are few better options than Garay, who has helped his side to the Europa League final for a second-season running to further boost his credentials.
