Liverpool 1 - 2 Manchester United (23 September, Anfield, Premier League)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H0G4aPtz9k It was great to see the Liverpool fans hold up cards that spelt "Justice" in memory of the Hillsborough disaster victims before the game. Another issue in the game included, of course, Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra yet again. And thankfully this time the pair shook hands. There was no doubt that Liverpool were the better side in the first half but they failed to make the most of their chances and just before half time it all went wrong for them. Jonjo Shelvey was sent off for a rash tackle on Evans, even though it could be argued the United defender also went into the tackle without the best intentions. Shelvey also had a go at Alex Ferguson as he walked off, claiming he was the reason he had shown red. Despite this, Liverpool took a well deserved lead right at the start of the second half. And it was that man again - Steven Gerrard had scored against United once again. Their lead did not last long though as Rafael scored a great goal in the 51st minute to make it 1 - 1. In the end, the game was won by a controversial penalty decision. Johnson clipped Valencia's heel and he went down in the penalty area but it was hard to see if there was much contact. Van Persie slotted the penalty home and secured his first goal against Liverpool in a United shirt and the win for his team. The next game in this saga this Sunday is sure to be another fascinating encounter.
