Man Utd vs Real Madrid - 5 Reasons Why Los Blancos Are In Decline

2. They're 3rd In La Liga

If you wanted further evidence that Real Madrid have been having a hard time of it in recent times, all you need do is take even the most cursory of glances at the La Liga table, which will show that they are languishing in 3rd place at present, a whole 16 points adrift from league leaders Barcelona. They have lost five league games already this season and hated rivals Atletico Madrid sit above them in second, as if to rub further salt into their wounds. Real's defence of their La Liga crown has been left in tatters months before the final fixtures of the season as Barcelona appear to be casually strolling toward the league title with a merry skip here and there thrown in for good measure. Contrastingly, Manchester United are romping toward the Premier League crown as well and are 12 points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City, which all sounds incredibly familiar, doesn't it? Last year's La Liga winners are replicating last year's English Premier League winners by hitting the old self-destruct button. Now is as good a time as any for United to be facing Real.
