Newcastle 2014-15 Season Review - 6 Best (And 6 Worst) NUFC Performances

The Best Performances...

6. Hull City 0-3 Newcastle United (Premier League - January 31st, 2015)

A rare highlight under John Carver's stewardship - and in fact his first win in charge, just days after he was confirmed as interim boss until the end of the season following four winless matches as caretaker. The Magpies started tentatively at the KC Stadium and looked a little nervous, but thankfully Hull City were woeful. First, Remy Cabella enjoyed arguably his best performance in a black-and-white shirt - and the mercurial Frenchman capitalised on horrific Tigers defending to dink in between five players and smash an unstoppable left-footed shot into the net to give Newcastle the lead after 40 minutes. His only goal for the Magpies to date, but what a strike! Sammy Ameobi then provided a rare moment of magic five minutes after half-time - with the gangly winger firing a speculative effort in from close to 30 yards that, inexplicably, Hull stopper Allan McGregor failed to get down to. Yoan Gouffran then scored his second goal in as many games - his only two of the campaign it must be added - with 12 minutes to go after the Frenchman ghosted through some pathetic Hull City challenges before his shot deflected in. A resounding win - but it was, admittedly, over an abject Hull City side.
