Newcastle 2014-15 Season Review - 6 Best (And 6 Worst) NUFC Performances

5. Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Newcastle United (Premier League - October 26th, 2014)

Winless in their opening seven Premier League games, Newcastle had just secured their first victory of the campaign at home to Leicester City when they arrived at White Hart Lane in October. The Magpies' woeful away form looked likely to continue when Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor headed in his seemingly customary goal against the Newcastle in the 18th minute - becoming the first player all season to score during the minute's applause for Liam Sweeney and John Alder, which continued to be observed immaculately regardless. Put simply, Newcastle were woeful in the first-half. However, just eight seconds after the re-start the Magpies were level - with Sammy Ameobi bagging the fastest goal by a substitute all season. With Ameobi having arrived on to the scene at half-time, his opposite number Eric Dier was late to leave the changing rooms and, when Jack Colback placed a delicious chipped pass in behind the defence, the gangly winger advanced to smash an unstoppable shot across Hugo Lloris. With the Toon Army still in full voice following the equaliser that had appeared distant in the first-half, Ayoze Perez then sent them into dreamland as he jumped highest in the box to head home and open his account for the Magpies. A 2-1 victory in north London was unexpected - but Newcastle were deserved winners following their brilliant second-half display.
