Newcastle 3-4 Portland Timbers 2 – NUFC Match Ratings

11. Papiss Cisse (Replaced By Adam Armstrong) - 2/10

If anyone sees Papiss please let us know because we're worried about him... We saw that his name was included on the teamsheet at the start of the game but he didn't seem to be on the pitch at all. The commentators noted that he had been replaced by Adam Armstrong in the second-half but as far as we could see, the young Geordie merely came on to even the numbers up. The last two performances have been terrible from Cisse, who seems to have lost that grit, determination and fire in his belly that saw him make his mark against both Gateshead and Club Atlas. It really looks like he is resigned to losing his place to Aleksandar Mitrovic, and isn't interested in fighting for it. Maybe last season's top scorer has been told he will be leaving the club, which wouldn't be a surprise on this showing.

Adam Armstrong - 4/10

Frustration was the name of the game for the 18-year-old as he failed to deal with the artificial surface. So many times the ball got stuck under his feet which ultimately cost United in so many good attacking positions. The Geordie did have one clear-cut chance early in the second-half but his one-on-one was saved by the Portland keeper. It increasingly looked like Arma will benefit more from a loan move to the Football League rather than staying with United next season.
