Newcastle: 5 Things We Learnt From Stoke Victory

2. Newcastle And Stoke Won€™t Be On Each Other€™s Christmas Card Lists

Sunday was one of those games when more often and not, the frustration of not being able to break each other down lead to tempers boiling over. Neither team ended the game on particularly good terms with the other after several incidents of handbags. Papiss Cisse was on the end of criticism from Tony Pulis who claimed the Senegalese striker should have been sent off. Cisse was involved in pushing and shoving with both Shawcross and Wilson while Pulis claims that Cisse raised his hands in to the face of Shawcross. It appears Cisse did have his hands in and around Shawcross€™ face but they were both at it and the bookings were probably fair. As well as this, in the build up to Newcastle€™s equaliser, Steven Taylor probably crossed himself off any list as he irritated Asmir Begovic. First of all Taylor hauled the keeper to his feet as he rolled around on the deck after colliding with Yohan Gouffran and then the Geordie defender proceeded to take part in some pushing shoving with most of the Stoke defence before spending the rest of the time before the free kick was taken stood right in front of Begovic, jumping about and copying him to distract him. http://youtu.be/4cLJ3DSzurQ I€™m sure Taylor will claim this played some part in the goal and he also took much delight in celebrating in Begovic€™s face after the goal went in. The unfriendliness was replicated on the touchline as both sets of coaching staff scrapped with one another. One thing we certainly learnt on Sunday was that Newcastle and Stoke won€™t be in each other€™s good books after a large amount of unnecessary scrapping with each other.
