Newcastle Transfers: £10 Million Fee For Jacob Murphy Agreed
Rafa closes on transfer of Norwich winger.
Newcastle have seen a bid of £10m accepted for England U21 star Jacob Murphy, according to the Evening Chronicle.
The wide-man, who plays for Norwich (pictured above playing for Blackpool) alongside twin brother Josh, broke through at Carrow Road last season after a series of loan spells.
And Rafa Benitez is reported to have registered an interest in the 22-year-old, as he looks to assemble a squad capable of surviving the rough-and-tumble of the top flight.
The Spaniard is prepared to pay an initial £10m for his services, in a deal that could rise by a further £2m if additional clauses are met.
Murphy scored nine times for the Canaries last season to seal his place in England's squad for the U21 European Championships in Poland.
Whilst the Three Lions crashed out on penalties after a turgid semi-final performance against Germany, Murphy was considered one of the bright spots, having found the net as a substitute when his side played the hosts.
Should the deal materialise, the winger would become Newcastle's third senior signing of the window, following in the footsteps of Christian Atsu and Florian Lejeune.
