A sleeping giant may finally be awakening after so many years of slumber. Years of fan perceived mistreatment of their precious club by Sportsdirect mogul, Mike Ashley, may finally be coming to an end and there is an understandable buzz about this takeover from the notoriously passionate toon army.

The sea of black and white that so fervently follow this football club are finally being allowed to dream again thanks to a potentially imminent, and apparently massive, injection of cash from a Saudi backed consortium. Unsurprisingly there has been all sorts of names bandied around to get the Newcastle fans salivating over the eventual restart of football.

For the first time since perhaps back when Alan Shearer donned their famous number nine, Newcastle fans may be entering a season with hopes of really competing at the top end of the table. Although some of the names being thrown around are perhaps a little unrealistic (sorry Newcastle fans but it's unlikely we'll see Mbappe and Messi lining up in front of Jonjo Shelvey just yet), there is more than enough reason to be optimistic about an impressive Newcastle season to come.

Here's a look at some of the potential signings Newcastle's new Saudi sugar daddies should consider...

10. Dean Henderson (GK) - Sheffield United

Admittedly, perhaps not the most immediate hole that needs plugging in the Newcastle ship when one considers the quality, and fan favourite status, of Martin Dubravka. But some high profile mistakes for the Slovakian stopper this season have perhaps opened a sliver of doubt about his ability to step up to the next level with the club.

Newcastle could do a lot worse than to use their new-found wealth to test the resolve of Manchester United by lobbing in a bid for their promising young keeper. Dean Henderson has been immense on loan at Sheffield United this season. A calming presence at the back with all the shot stopping abilities of Dubravka to boot, Henderson would be the perfect keeper to allow Newcastle to develop a new, more attacking style ahead of.

Henderson is familiar with a more attacking game from his time at Sheffield and a more comforting presence around his box than the occasionally erratic Dubravka. With Madrid's interest in De Gea seemingly waning, it may be the perfect time for a club to snatch up Henderson on a permanent deal. No doubt other clubs will be circling soon.
