Newcastle Transfers: 10 Signings New Owners Must Target First

8. Kostas Manolas (CB) - Napoli

Newcastle's defence has probably been one of the few shining lights in a pretty dim season thus far, but more quality and experience at CB alongside the likes of captain Jamaal Lascelles would do wonders for allowing their forward players to flourish. Greek defender Kostas Manolas is a man with an abundance of both these qualities.

The current Napoli centre-back has been one of the best defenders in the Serie A for some time now, starring for Roma's backline before making the move to Naples. Intelligent, calm and authoritative, with a surprising turn of pace considering his size, Manolas is the complete defender.

At 28 he is a player who both has the experience at the top level to help improve and mould Newcastles younger players, but also enough years ahead of him to continue to play in the Premier League for some time yet. Physically, he more than fits the profile to adapt to the Premier League with ease and would be a perfect player to come in and improve the team right away.
