Newcastle Transfers: 10 Signs Remy Cabella Is Perfect Cabaye Replacement

8. 7

Otherwise Known As: His assists last season. Though 7 assists is far from poor (Yaya Toure only managed 9 and Samir Nasri 7), in conjunction with the number of chances he created last season, his Assist stat suggests that in a team with a better attack, he would have picked up considerably more. That's not to assume that Newcastle have a better front-line than Montpellier - they certainly didn't last season - but if Riviere takes his pre-season conversion rate into the season, or Newcastle can indeed bring in someone like Alexandre Lacazette, Cabella's assist rate will be very helpful. Cabella has clearly been signed with the intention of adding goals to the team - and not just himself - which is something that Newcastle missed badly when Cabaye left. For most of the second half of the season, Moussa Sissoko fruitlessly created chances for a forward line that was either unable or unwilling (either through lack of ability in Cisse and Shola's cases, or being in too deep a position in Remy's) to put the ball in the net. Hopefully that can change with another creative player brought in and a new look strike force.
