Newcastle Transfers: 10 Signs Remy Cabella Is Perfect Cabaye Replacement

4. 2.19

Otherwise Known As: Number of chances Cabella made for team-mates per game last season. The crueller fans out there might suggest that the likes of Papiss Cisse might need Cabella more than any other of his team-mates considering how many chance the Frenchman generates, and how many the striker needs to actually score these days, but there is truth behind the comedy. Crucially, Newcastle simply did not create enough chances last season - though Yohan Cabaye was heralded as the main creative influence, he made only 1.24 chances per game, paling in comparison to Cabella. Indeed, only Moussa Sissoko generated anything close to Cabella's rate - and in fact, the Frenchman was 5th overall in the League's chance makers - with the rest creating somewhere around a single chance per game and less. Obviously having someone as creative as Cabella is a big plus, particularly if Pardew can keep hold of Sissoko too, but it's a matter of who they are putting the balls into. If there are 5 or 6 chances being generated by Sissoko and Cabella alone (and that's not bringing in Siem De Jong), you have to suspect that someone is going to need to put them away for the team to profit.
