Newcastle Transfers: 5 Championship Players To Target This Summer

2. Tom Ince

With his Blackpool contract set to expire in the summer Newcastle would be foolish not to look at Ince in the process of rebooting our flagging attack. The 22-year-old, son of the self-styled "Guv'nor" Paul Ince, was a rose amongst the thorns at Bloomfield Road and there isn't a lot to say about the gifted winger that hasn't already been said. A product of Liverpool's academy he has spent the past two-and-a-half years cutting Championship defences to ribbons in a Tangerine shirt, registering 18 goals and 14 assists last season and managing seven this term before a loan switch to Crystal Palace. Ince's electric pace, agility and creative capabilities in the final third would a huge asset to our ponderous attack, which has bordered on the pedestrian since Yohan Cabaye upped sticks and fled to back to France. We've suffered without an innovative thinker pulling the strings from the no-10 role and the England under-21 international has all the necessary attributes to assume the responsibilities as our creator-in-chief, while he would also pose a significant goal threat having proven himself a deadly and precise finisher in the second tier. However, convincing Ince that his future lies in black and white will be a tough sell especially when he's being linked to top European clubs like Monaco and Inter Milan. Then again he pitched up at Palace in January where he's featured intermittently and has a huge admirer in Pardew, who would undoubtedly mould the team around his talents.
