Newcastle Transfers: 8 Reasons Why Hatem Ben Arfa May Have To Be Sold

3. Selling Him Could Attract Big Money

If we know one thing about Mike Ashley, it is that he likes to make a profit. His entire transfer policy at Newcastle is to buy low and sell high. Ben Arfa was prized away from Marseille for the reported fee of £5 million. It is perfectly reasonable to think that he could attract upwards of £20 million in today's market, having recovered from such injuries as a broken leg earlier in his career. Ben Arfa has shown flashes of brilliance - in a better team he would undoubtedly flourish further, with more time on the ball and less obligation to track back. The longer he spends on the bench will not harm his reputation, as he is a highlights-reel player, with nothing to prove in terms of raw talent. Liverpool were rumoured to be in for the winger during the summer, and Monaco were also sniffing around. I would anticipate both, and more, to come knocking again come January.
