Newcastle Transfers: 9 Forwards Pardew Must Consider In January

1. Remy Cabella (Montpellier)

Newcastle fans could probably be forgiven for taking recent reports linking the Montpellier attacking midfielder and winger with a pinch of salt, given that the opening of the transfer window can basically be dismissed as silly season, but if the Mirror's reports are to be believed, the Magpies are in poll position to bring him to England. That report suggests a price tag of £14m, which would be a considerable price tag, but at 23 years old, the talented midfielder would have plenty of opportunities to repay the transfer fee on the pitch. The Mirror suggest it might not actually take that much to bring Cabella to England, as president Louis Nicollin is said to privately be open to negotiations to boost his side's revenue. The French contigent on Tyneside might help convince Cabella to join, and if Newcastle can pull off what would be a considerable transfer coup, they would be getting a hugely talented attack-minded midfielder who would considerably boost options in the final third, especially with Sylvain Marveaux and Jons Gutierrez all but invisible on Tyneside recently. Is this all just silly season talk? Should Newcastle be looking at the linked players in this list, and the other options? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread.
