Newcastle Transfers: 9 Forwards Pardew Must Consider In January
2. Ross McCormack (Leeds United)
Certain Newcastle fans have made no secret of the fact that they want to see more British talent at the club after the influx of French players, which came under particular scrutiny when some of last season's new signings failed to adapt as quickly to the Premier League as was necessary. Even with those players now bedded in and showing the kind of form that made them good signings in the first place, that vocal element of the crowd remain unmoved in their desire for "home talent" (in the general absence of any emerging North East players.) And Leeds United's Scottish striker, who has 17 League goals to his name already, would represent a comparatively affordable option, even if Leeds would need a big bid to be parted with their chief asset. McCormack has variety in his style, and can play out wide, much like Yoan Gouffran, so he would be a good option for Alan Pardew's fondness for changing between 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 systems. He might be a lower league gamble, but McCormack has proved his worth in England, and it's only a matter of time before someone brings him to the Premier League.
