Newcastle Transfers: 9 Forwards Pardew Must Consider In January

7. Tom Ince (Blackpool)

According to a number of media sources, including the Express as recently as yesterday, Tom Ince has been linked with a number of Premier League sides, including Tottenham, Swansea, Everton, Newcastle, Cardiff and Liverpool, and it looks like his is a name that will crop up frequently during this winter transfer window. The Express say that both Swansea and Palace have already moved quickly to make an approach for the winger, who has been one of Blackpool's star players in the past couple of seasons since his move from Liverpool, and that the winger believes that a move to the Premier League could help his England chances. That would of course rely on him getting playing time, so it would seem less likely that the player would make a return to Liverpool, where his chances would be more limited, but the higher quality of the first team squad at Newcastle might attract the under-21 star. He has already rejected Cardiff once this year, in order to stay at Blackpool for the sake of his new-born first child, but with interest set to step up, January might well see a move, especially given that he has suggested he recognises the value of moving up a division: Speaking in the summer, Ince said: "I have been playing for England under-21s, and if I am under consideration for the senior squad, might not a Premier League platform help make it happen? Especially in a World Cup season."
