Newcastle United 0-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach - Player Ratings

5. Massadio Haidara - 5.5

If the marks were split between attack and defence then Haidara would receive extremely contrasting scores for each. In attack he was his usual determined self, getting forward whenever he could and delivering a couple of good crosses - including one for a Papiss Cisse header that glanced just wide of the goal - but in defence he was hopeless. Poor in possession - he gave it away three times in the space of five minutes in the first-half - and rash in the challenge, Haidara gave away a number of needless fouls. Likely to be the Magpies' left-back come the weekend, but once Paul Dummett is fit he could challenge the Frenchman for the position as the Welshman is stronger defensively.
