Newcastle United's 10 Best Goals Of The Premier League Era

1. Phillipe Albert (NUFC 5-0 Manchester United)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deXicnyXt3g Where: St James' Park Date: October 1996 On a magical afternoon at St James' Park, Newcastle had already brutally pummelled Premier League title rivals Manchester United into submission by the time the ball landed at the feet of Albert in the 83rd minute. With an insurmountable 4-0 lead, courtesy of goals from Darren Peacock, David Ginola, Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer, we had already avenged the Charity Shield humiliation dished out by Sir Alex Ferguson's side a few months earlier and sought to inflict extra punishment on the Red Devils. A delightful one-two from Rob Lee and David Batty on the left side saw Lee feed the ball to Albert, who had pushed upfield from his position at centre-back as he regularly did when the Magpies were in possession. Evading an advancing Nicky Butt with two heavy touches there appeared to be no apparent danger to a well-drilled Man United defence as the Belgian strode towards the penalty area. Peter Schmeichel figured the same as he took a few steps off his line. Sensing an opportunity, and after a quick glance at Schmeichel's position, Albert conjured the most delicate of lobs that soared over the static Danish goalkeeper, who could only look up to the heavens as the ball angelically descended into the net behind him. It was a goal that epitomised the sheer class, vision and arrogance of a player etched into the folklore of this football club.
