Newcastle United's Worst-Ever Premier League XI

5. CENTRE-BACK - Marcelino

Newcastle United: 1999-2003 Nationality: Spanish

Position: Centre-Back

Cost: £5.8 million (Signed from Real Mallorca)

Premier League Appearances: 17

Premier League Goals: 0

Probably the first name that springs to mind when any Toon fan is asked to name the worst singings in Newcastle United's history. Marcelino was signed from Real Mallorca for £5.8 million in 1999 yet he went on to make just 17 Premier League appearances for the club over the next four years due to a series of bizarre and quite-simply farcical injuries.

Incredibly capped five times by Spain, Marcelino is often labelled as one of the "softest" players ever to make an appearance in the Premier League.
