Newcastle United's Worst-Ever Premier League XI

6. CENTRAL-MIDFIELDER - Silvio Maric

Newcastle United: 1998-2000

Nationality: Croatian

Position: Midfielder

Cost: £3.3 million (Signed from Dynamo Zagreb)

Premier League Appearances: 23

Premier League Goals: 0

He may have became the first Croatian player ever to feature in the FA Cup final during the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United under Ruud Gullit's guidance in 1999, but apart from that Maric's time on Tyneside was rather forgettable to say the least.

Capped 19 times by Croatia, he attacking-midfielder simply couldn't handle the pace and power of the Premier League and he failed to score in 23 Premier League appearances before being moved on in 2000.
