Newcastle Vs Liverpool: 10 Big Predictions From Around The Net
6. Lee Ryder - Newcastle Will Pile The Pressure On Second Half
The Chronicle's chief sport writer and Newcastle fan Lee Ryder spoke to sister publication the Liverpool Echo to run down the threats Newcastle posed, what system Alan Pardew would probably play, and why the team is now winning. After suggesting that an early goal could be key for Newcastle, thanks to the atmosphere in St. James' Park, Ryder pointed to the pace of wide-men Gabriel Obertan and Sammy Ameobi as a big weapon against Liverpool. He also said that Pardew would probably play 4-2-3-1, and try to keep it tight in the first half before opening the floodgates in attack, somewhat optimistically:
"If Newcastle get their way they'll shoot downhill towards Gallowgate in the second half and pile the pressure on after keeping tight in the first period."
