Newcastle's Final-Day Premier League Results - How Have They Fared?

2. Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle United (11/05/14) - LOST

Even though Newcastle finished in 10th place at the end of the 2013-14 campaign, they should have been in the top seven but for a second-half-of-the season collapse. Their final match of the season at Anfield started well, with Martin Skrtel giving the Magpies a 20th-minute lead after the Liverpool defender put the ball into his own net, but then things descended into farce for the visitors. First Daniel Agger equalised before Daniel Sturridge scored the winner, and then the Magpies imploded. Shola Ameobi was shown two yellow cards within 10 seconds for repeated dissent, before Paul Dummett was sent off in the 87th minute for a terrible tackle on Luis Suarez.
