Newcastle's Plight In Numbers - What Exactly Would Relegation Mean?

8. £37.1 Million - Bolton Wanderers' Wage Bill, The Current Highest In The Championship And Less Than Half Of Newcastle's

Newcastle's wage bill in 2013-14 was £78.3 million, the seventh-highest in the Premier League. Contrast that to the highest payers in the Championship in 2013-14 (that does not include Queens Park Rangers, because it only takes into account those who played in the second tier this campaign), Bolton Wanderers, and the Lancashire outfit's annual wage bill is less than half the Magpies' at £37.1 million. And Leicester City's wage bill when they won the Championship at a canter last season? £26.1 million... Even if Newcastle do offload some big earners and slash their wage bill, it is difficult to see them getting down to as low a level as Bolton.
