Next Newcastle Manager: 10 Favourites To Replace Alan Pardew

7. Tim Sherwood (20-1)

Status: Unemployed Despite impressing many with how he turned Tottenham around after Andre Villa-Boas' damaging time as Spurs boss, Daniel Levy decided that rookie manager Tim Sherwood was too inexperienced to deliver Champions League football at White Hart Lane. Seen as a particularly harsh decision by many, Sherwood may just have impressed Mike Ashley when his Tottenham side utterly outplayed and thrashed Newcastle before Mike Ashley's eyes in a 4-0 drubbing at St. James' Park in February. Few teams were so impressive at St. James' than Sherwood's Tottenham. Of course bringing in Sherwood would also likely mean Newcastle legend Les Ferdinand would make the journey back to St. James' Park as his number two, something which supporters might welcome as a sweetener to Sherwood's inexperience. Still much of an unknown quantity, Sherwood certainly deserves an interview should Mike Ashley get rid of Alan Pardew. Though how Sherwood would be able to work under Ashley's restraint is unknown, particularly after his experience with Levy. He turned down the West Brom vacancy when the club didn't match his expectations and a similar thing may have happened at Crystal Palace where at one point he looked favourite to gain that job. The young manager might be too full of beans for Ashley to take the plunge with him but one thing is for sure... he proved with the likes of Adebayor he could get the best out of players others had given up on, and given his prior role in the Tottenham academy, was a big proponent of bringing through the youth to the first team... two virtues that Newcastle fans would love to get out of the likes of Papiss Cisse and the likes of Rolando Aarons and Sammy Ameobi.
