NFL: Robert Griffin III - Future Hall of Famer?

In football, its Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo who are constantly in the spotlight due to their amazing talents, but in all honesty they€™ve been playing professionally for quite a few years and have had time to prove they are the best in the world. In American football on the other hand, the player all the fans are talking about is Robert Griffin III, who unlike Messi and Ronaldo is only in his first year of his professional career. The Washington Redskins quarterback has amazed fans in just four matches, which has led to him being named NFL€™s €˜Offensive Rookie of the Month€™. The second round 2012 draft pick and 2011 Heisman trophy winner from Baylor University, has shaken the league with his unorthodox quarterback style. He has thrown 1,070 yards so far which contained two 300+ yard games, and if on Sunday he throws 180 yards, he could join Panthers quarterback Cam Newton as the second rookie to have thrown 1250 yards in the first five games of his rookie season. But Griffin is not only blessed with an ability to throw. So far RG3 has rushed for 234 yards and has scored 4 rushing touchdowns, which has him tied him for the most rushing touchdowns for a Redskin quarterback since 1950, this makes an already running based team like the Redskins even stronger. So what is RG3€™s secret? Many believe it is his confidence which is making him so successful, after all any quarterback who chooses to rush for himself is taking a huge risk. He has also proven to be a good leader, during the Redskins match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a technical fault with his headset forced RG3 to call his own plays and in doing so performed a game winning drive, not many quarterbacks these days are capable of calling their own plays, that€™s what offensive coaches are for. He is also calm under pressure, but this has been said by some to not only be a strength but also a weakness, as he sometimes lacks awareness which has led to him being tackled, and five times he has fumbled the ball whilst during a tackle which places him as first for the most fumbles in the league so far. Even though we are still at the start of the season, Robert Griffin III is definitely a player who everyone should watch for being a tough contender for season MVP. Not many players have started their rookie season as well as Griffin and he should definitely not be overlooked.
