Norwich City: 5 Reasons Chris Hughton Should Be Sacked

2. Poor Defensive Record And Goal Difference

Chris Hughton is one of those managers that often thinks about the defensive side of the game as of the attacking side. However, for someone with that defensive preference his team simply concede too many goals, and that has an adverse impact on goals difference that could be vital at the end of the season. In total, Norwich have conceded 39 goals from their 26 games this season, only Stoke, Cardiff and Fulham have conceded more goals. That combined with Norwich€™s inability to score goals on a regular basis is creating a very dangerous problem. This is one of the tightest bottom half€™s of a Premier League table that we have seen for years. This could very well mean that goal difference could decide relegation, and if that was to happen then Hughton€™s team could be in trouble. Their goal difference of -20 simply isn€™t good enough, and it€™s interestingly the third worst in the league behind Cardiff and Fulham. The two aforementioned teams are many people€™s picks for relegation, so that cannot be a good omen for Norwich.
