NUFC Head Coach Target Paco Jemez Poised To Sign New Deal At Rayo Vallecano

On to the next one....

Who will be the man to take over at Newcastle United? It won't be Derby County boss Steve McClaren, it CAN'T be current Head Coach John Carver, and it now looks like another leading contender is out of the race. According to Spanish newspaper AS, Rayo Vallecano manager Paco Jemez, the man who "f*****g hates the long ball", is poised to sign a new two year contract with the La Liga side. This is a blow to Newcastle who by all accounts saw Jemez as one of the stand out candidates for the role. He is somewhat of a charismatic enigma that loves to play possession football and believes attack is the best form of defence. This would have endeared him to Newcastle fans no end as this is the way they believe football should be played.
The former Spanish international, 45, has managed the likes of Alcala, Cordoba, Cartagena, Las Palmas before taking over the reigns at Rayo in 2012. He has led Los Franjirrojos to eighth, 12th and currently have them sitting in the same mid table spot this term. Certainly a magnificent achievement for one of the less fashionable clubs in Spain. Unsurprisingly, those achievements have now led to a plethora of rumours, with Marca reporting that Newcastle were considering a surprise move to make Jemez their new manager this summer if John Carver could steer them to Premier League safety. However, AS now report that Jemez is moving closer to signing a new two-year contract extension, with his current deal set to expire next month. This means Newcastle will have to go back to the drawing board in search of a new boss. There must be someone out there who wants it... Surely?
