Group E
Predicted Table: 1. Chelsea 2. FC Schalke 3. FC Basel 4. Steau Bucharest Chelsea have arguably been gifted the easiest group out of the British teams having been drawn against mediocre European opposition. They have grown used to playing FC Schalke and FC Basel and Jose Mourinho will be confident that he has worked those teams out.
Schalke qualified for the group stages in convincing fashion and will more than likely be Chelsea's toughest test. FC Basel continue their good run of qualifying for the Champions League group stages, however they rarely progress any further and I don't see this year being any different. Steau Bucharest, the Romanian Champions, go into the group stages as favourites to flop and finish bottom, however they could provide upsets along the way and disrupt the progress of their opponents. Nevertheless, I think after all the teams have played 6 games, Chelsea will come out as comfortable group winners, with Schalke narrowly pipping FC Basel to the second qualifying spot.
