Premier League: 10 Biggest Transfer Window Mistakes

7. Spurs Loan Holtby To Fulham

Fulham struck gold here, landing a very capable young starlet for the remainder of the season when in all honesty he should be featuring for Tim Sherwood's side. The fact that Spurs let him go was nothing short of bizarre. Lewis Holtby shouldn't be in a relegation battle - he belongs at the other end of the table fighting for Champions League football, which is precisely what parent club Tottenham are doing - but he, for unknown reasons, doesn't get the opportunities he deserves. Now he has the chance of regular first team football and if he competes as highly as he is capable of then Tottenham will be surely regret the decision to farm him out on loan, especially if they struggle to make it into the Champions League, which should be counted as their primary objective after such a summer of flux. Holtby could have helped Spurs in their Champions League battle and with the sides they're competing with they need all the help they can get - and probably more. The decision is made even worse by the lack of arrivals at White Hart Lane, but more on that later.
