Premier League: 10 Worst Managers Of All Time

6. Mark Hughes - QPR

Like Ince, Mark Hughes was another manager who had forged a fantastic playing career, especially at Manchester United, though differently to Ince, he had achieved well in the top flight before as a manager, with Blackburn, Manchester City and Fulham. In January 2012 he took over from Neil Warnock at QPR hoping to pull them away from the relegation zone, and in his first season he did manage to keep QPR in the Premier League, though only thanks to Bolton losing on the final day though. In the summer before the 2012/2013 season Hughes was given a huge transfer budget and he set about spending it, giving out huge amounts on wages and transfer fees on players such as Esteban Granero from Real Madrid, Julio Cesar from Inter Milan and Stephan Mbia from Marseille. QPR fans were hopeful of a strong season with their new army of signings. Things didn€™t quite work out for Hughes though as most of his new signings failed to perform at the start of the season and his new recruits were starting to look like an army of flops. Even with his own team in place Hughes couldn€™t get them to perform and after QPR€™s worst ever start to a season, without a win in their first 12 matches, Hughes was sacked. Hughes had managed just 8 wins in over 30 games at the club. Hughes€™ disastrous tenure at QPR has probably spelt the end of The Hoops€™ time in The Premier League with them currently languishing bottom of the league. Hughes spent big and then couldn€™t get the players he€™d signed to perform for him and seems to have ultimately relegated QPR despite huge financial backing.
