1. Luis Suarez
How different it all might have been for the temperamental Uruguayan forward. For much of the season Suarez had been receiving rave reviews for his outstanding, world class performances on the pitch. His conversion of chances was vastly improved from his debut season as he scored 23 league goals for the Reds. So impressive were the former Ajax mans performances that he was considered by many to be a sure thing for Player of the year awards. That was until April 21st 2013. During the Merseysiders 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Anfield,
Suarez launched an unprovoked attack on Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic; bizarrely sinking his teeth into the Chelsea player's arm. The press went into overdrive and even the
Prime Minister jumped on the band wagon to have a dig at the hot-headed Uruguayan. Suarez received a
10 match ban for the incident and in the process threw away his chances of winning any post season awards. Since then, Suarez has been heavily linked with a transfer; blaming the press' intrusion in his life. The South-American has gone on record as saying he would
love to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. However intrusive the press may be, is it just me who thinks the Uruguayan is his own worst enemy? I doubt it.
