The 23-year-old Dutch international can certainly defend but it is his tactical awareness and ability with the ball that made him such an important cog in the finely tuned Ajax wheel. Newcastle fans should be salivating at the prospect of a well-balanced Tiote, Cabaye, Anita midfield bossing games in the middle third.
