Premier League: 8 Glaring Questions From This Season So Far

8. Who Can Compete With Luis Suarez For The Player Of The Year Award?

Before we look at the other contenders, we need to take a moment to admire what Luis Suarez has done so far this season because this man has quite literally been phenomenal. 23 goals and 8 assists in 21 appearances is a stellar return for a player who missed the first 5 games with suspension. That equates to 47% of all of Liverpool's goals this year and it's that reason that sees Liverpool so high in the league this year. If he carries on at his current rate, then nobody will be able to catch him in the race for Player of the Year. But if he slows there are a few players, riding his coat tails, who will be ready to overtake him in the votes. Aaron Ramsey- Before his injury this year, Ramsey was a revelation at Arsenal. Scoring 8 goals, making 6 other goals and scoring crucial goals in close games had made Ramsey one of the most important players in the Gunner's squad. Once again though, injury seems to be stopping the Welshman from showing us everything he has to offer in the most important part of the season. Sergio Aguero- Much like Ramsey, Ageuro was scoring for fun this year before injury. He had 15 goals and 5 assists in 17 appearances, definite Player of the Year material. The fact that Man City don't quite look the same without him also shows you just how pivotal he is in their attempt to win the Barclay's Premier League again. With a return to fitness there is no reason why he can't stake his claim for the award at the end of the season. Eden Hazard- 12 goals, 5 assists from an attacking midfielder is an excellent return for a player now settled in England. He is, arguably, the only player here who can't be replaced to some extent by someone else in the squad and he is also proving to be the proven match winner in his team also. His team's over reliance on him could see him thrive or wither in the last third of the season.
