Why they could win the league: Quite simply two words: Mesut –zil. The deadline day signing of –zil was a stroke of genius by Wenger, who many people were beginning to question - particularly his willingness to spend money during the transfer window. Without –zil in the squad I would've said that Arsenal wouldn't have had a hope in hell of winning the Premier League and would've struggled to even make the top four. However with –zil Arsenal look a force to be reckoned with and have started this campaign well. –zil has made the most assists so far this season and actually makes Olivier Giroud look like a half decent striker. Why they might not win the league: All that said, one player does not a team make. Mesut –zil is just one man and Arsenal can't rely on him to carry the team. If he were to get injured then they are left with the same team that has just managed to keep Arsenal in the top four for the last few years but not pushed on or done any better. I think signing –zil was definitely a step in the right direction but Arsenal may need one or two more similarly big signings to be serious contenders for the League title.
