13. Yoan Gouffran - Bordeaux To Newcastle United

Fee:Undisclosed, January 2013. Rewind 12 months and Newcastle United were struggling in the Premier League. Going into January they were 15th and only two points ahead of Wigan who were eventually relegated. To remedy this they signed a number of French players including Yoan Gouffran. Gouffran was signed for less than £1 million as his contract at French club Bordeaux was running down. He and the other January signings helped Newcastle avoid relegation last season. He scored on his debut in a vital 2-1 away win at fellow strugglers Aston Villa and scored another two in the remainder of the season to help secure safety for Newcastle. This season playing left midfield Gouffran has again chipped in scoring six goals and assisting two in 17 appearances so far. Last year Newcastle manager Alan Pardew lauded Gouffran as his best value January buy ever.
