Premier League Transfers: 15 Most Successful January Signings

12. Demba Ba - Hoffenheim To West Ham

Fee:Undisclosed, January 2011. Demba Ba is now a household name to most English football fans after profile raising stints at both the Hammers and Newcastle, which ultimately earned him a move to Chelsea, but that wasn€™t the case when West Ham signed him from German club Hoffenheim in January 2011. Ba signed for an undisclosed fee and made an immediate impact at West Ham, scoring seven goals in 10 league games making him West Ham€™s top scorer, despite only being there for half the season, and having had his knee assessed as catastrophically injured, according to a failed medical at Stoke City. Unfortunately for Ba and West Ham those goals were not enough to keep the club up and Ba left at the end of the season to start a very successful spell at Newcastle United, with a now infamous transfer release fee clause in tow.
