What do they need? A decent left back would not got a miss for the managerless Baggies. That apart they are pretty well stocked, so the new coach whoever he is doesn't have too much work to do on winter recruitment. Linked with: Aaron Cresswell (Ipswich), Wilfried Zaha (Manchester United). Who we'd like to see at The Hawthorns:Cresswell is one of the outstanding players in the Championship. Albion should see the wisdom in shelling out for a talented, homegrown option as the right-footed Liam Ridgewell has never really convinced. Goran Popov has hardly uprooted any trees when he has come in either.
West Ham
What do they need? Strengthening at either end of the pitch, so a central defender and a centre forward are the minimum required to keep Sam Allardyce in the Hammers hotseat. Linked with: Demba Ba (Chelsea), Andre-Pierre Gignac (Marseille), Asamoah Gyan (Al Ain), Nikica Jelavic (Everton), Roger Johnson (Wolves, on loan at Sheffield Wednesday), Rickie Lambert (Southampton), Chris Samba (Dynamo Moscow). Who we'd like to see at Upton Park:Asamoah Gyan and Chris Samba. All African buys would add power to Big Sam's beleaguered West Ham, but neither would come cheap. There have also been rumours linking Southampton striker Lambert with an £8 million move to the Hammers. Johnny Heitinga's snub would have hurt Allardyce and the Wolves misfit Roger Johnson coming in on loan is hardly the best alternative capture in defence. Johnson has played in a struggling Sheffield Wednesday side in recent months and hardly done much to revive their fortunes. Stepping up to Premier League level again looks a stop gap.
