Premier League Transfers: What All 20 Teams Need In The Winter Window

Chelsea

What do they need? Jose Mourinho must sooner or later purchase a striker who has not burnt himself out through the rigours of modern football. Longer term the Special One also needs to think about remodelling other areas of the Blues spine. Linked with: Mario Balotelli (AC Milan), Radamel Falcao (Monaco), Fredy Guarin (Inter Milan), Eliaquim Mangala (Porto), Ivan Rakitic (Sevilla), Nemanja Matic (Benfica), Andrea Ranocchia (Inter Milan), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Kurt Zouma (Saint-Etienne). Who we'd like to see at Stamford Bridge: Eliaquim Mangala and Radamel Falcao. Mourinho is unlikely to prize Colombian hitman Falcao away from resurgent and wealthy Monaco just six months after he joined from Atletico Madrid, but we can dream.
Balotelli is too unreliable as an alternative in attack. French defender Mangala meanwhile would follow in the footsteps of compatriots William Gallas, Frank Leboeuf and Marcel Desailly if he joins Chelsea. Inter centre back Ranocchia would need to make a dramatic improvement should he move to West London. Recent performances by Ashley Cole have hopefully convinced Mourinho there is still life in his ageing legs yet. As for the three midfielders listed above, there is presently no room in that department but in windows to come they could be welcome additions.
