QPR Vs Newcastle United - Premier League Head-To-Head Analysis

2. Wingers: Matt Phillips (QPR) Vs Remy Cabella (NUFC)

If you had asked most Premier League neutrals at the beginning of this season whether Remy Cabella or Matt Phillips would star this year, then you would have been hard-pressed to find anyone who would have picked the QPR man. Yet, with just two games of the campaign remaining, it is Phillips who has increased his reputation - while Cabella has failed to fulfil his hefty £12 million price tag.
Cabella has made 30 appearances this season (20 as a starter, 10 off the bench) but he has contributed just two assists and scored a solitary goal - during the 3-0 victory at Hull City in January. Phillips meanwhile has played 23 Premier League matches (18 as a starter, five off the bench), but he has netted twice - including a magnificent wonder strike from more than 40 yards against Crystal Palace - and he has contributed an impressive seven assists. Both contribute an identical number of key passes (1.3 per game), but Cabella enjoys a greater number of dribbles per game (2.4 to 1.7). Interestingly, Cabella also seems to be more of a defensive asset for the Magpies than Phillips is for QPR, will the former winning more tackles per game (2.4 to 1.5).
Verdict: Cabella is a box of tricks and, given time, he could progress into a top Premier League performer. However, in the here and now it is Phillips who is in prime form and is contributing goals and assists - so this one has to go to the QPR man.
