Reebok Terminates Contract With Jon Jones

After being stripped of the championship, Jones has now lost yet another lucrative endorsement deal.

Add Jon Jones€™ Reebok contract to the list of collateral damage from his most recent run-in with the law. In the latest piece of news in the continuing saga of the now former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, the athletic apparel giant announced on Wednesday that it had terminated their endorsement deal with him. A statement made by the company read: "In light of recent events, we have made the decision to terminate our contract with Jon Jones, effective immediately.€ This is another public relations nightmare for both Jon Jones and the UFC, as the Mixed Martial Arts organization has entered into a multi-year lucrative contract with Reebok that will see the implementation of a tiered payment structure for the fighters, with Jones serving as one of the faces of the new campaign. It doesn€™t bode well for the relationship when, just a few short months after the deal the man who is arguably the most high-profile and number one pound-for-pound fighter in the sport has to be dropped due to yet another legal issue. This marks the second time Jon Jones has had an endorsement deal terminated, with the first being his relationship with Nike which came to an end shortly after his press conference brawl with challenger Daniel Cormier. When it occurred, Jones made it seem as if that was the reason for the termination of the deal, but as time has passed he€™s amended his story to claim it was a mutual agreement due to Nike not wishing to €œmove further into the field of MMA.€ What€™s not up for debate is that this decision centers solely around Jones€™ arrest and being stripped of the UFC LHW title, and is just another in a string of events that show it€™s time the gifted young fighter seek some help and get his life back on track before he destroys his legacy. We€™ll keep you updated as this story continues to evolve.
