Roberto Martinez Gets Steven Gerrard's Backing For Liverpool Manager Role

Steven Gerrard has pledged his full support for Roberto Martinez taking up the vacant Liverpool Manager's job.

"We'll have to wait and see. My focus has been on the game. I'm aware Roberto Martinez has been talking to the club but all I've heard about him is positive. If he is going to be the manager he's got my full support."
David Whelen, Wigan Chairman and close friend of Martinez, told BBC Sport that he expects a decision to be made by next Thursday, and that a deal is likely to be discussed on Tuesday. Chelsea's former manager Andre Villas Boas has also been heavily linked with the vacant post, but the comments made during the last 24 hours from various parties has left Martinez the odds-on favourite to land the job. Liverpool Fans: Are you happy with Roberto Martinez taking over where Kenny Daglish left off? Do you expect to see sweeping changes made this summer in the playing personnel department?
