2. Daryl Janmaat (Captain) - 6.5

Handed the captain's armband at Bramall Lane, Janmaat made his intentions clear from the very first minute, bombing forward at every single opportunity and helping to carve out a chance for Papiss Cisse inside 90 minutes. Defensively, however, Janmaat struggled to cope from a positioning sense. Steve McClaren gives his full-backs licence to attack, but that means there is often space out wide for the opposition to hurt Newcastle. Still a decent performance from Janmaat, but defensively he can do a lot better - and he will know that.
