Southampton: 5 Potential Replacements For Mauricio Pochettino
3. Roberto Di Matteo
One name that nearly always crops up when a managerial vacancy is set to open is Roberto Di Matteo, the ex-Chelsea manager who hasn't worked since 2012. Di Matteo was given the chop by Chelsea that year despite guiding the London side to glory in both the FA Cup and Champions League - the latter of which was their first ever. Yet the likable Italian was axed and replaced by the considerably less-likable Rafa Benitez, and hasn't coached a club since. At 43, Di Matteo is one of the youngest managers in the game and there aren't too many more bosses his age who can match his CV. Not only did he have successes with Chelsea but he also proved himself at West Brom, guiding the Baggies into the Premier League in his very first season. Before that, he nearly guided Milton Keynes Dons into the Championship but his side lost the League One play-off semi-final on penalties to Scunthorpe United. As a manager, Di Matteo has an average win percentage of 51% and has improved a team's fortunes nearly everywhere he has gone.
