Spurs' 10 Best Set-Piece Experts Of The Premier League Era

1. Gareth Bale

Time At Spurs: 2007-2013. Set-Piece Specialty: Direct Free Kicks. Who else? Gareth Bale made a name for himself scoring spectacular games from Spurs - to the extent that Real Madrid paid a world record fee in excess of £85 million for his services - and several of them came from dead ball situations. Bale modelled his technique on a man he now plays alongside - Cristiano Ronaldo - whereby he would hit the ball square-on and have it dip almost impossibly after having beaten the opposition wall. He scored against the likes of Lyon, Newcastle United and Arsenal for Spurs using this technique and, although he was perfectly capable of delivering corners and indirect free kicks expertly, he wouldn't do so too often as he was so good at getting on the end of them with his head - a rarity for a winger. So there you have it - Spurs' ten best set-piece takers of the Premier League era. Did you enjoy this article? Do you agree with the entries on this list?
