I think it's fair to say that many people, including myself, had written Gylfi Sigurdsson off following the influx of new talent at Spurs - particularly due to the fact that so many new midfielders have been brought in to the club. Sigurdsson was widely expected to be the man to suffer most from this summer's spending, but he has come out fighting and, having started this match only by chance after Nacer Chadli received a knock, he took his chance brilliantly and scored both goals for Spurs - the second being a mere tap-in, but the first being a finish of real class. His performance and, in particular, his goals will certainly have given Andre Villas-Boas food for thought and Nacer Chadli could find his place in the first team under threat very early in his Spurs career.
