Spurs: 6 Reasons Tim Sherwood Is The Right Man For The Job

1. Results

Of course, the most important aspect of any manager or coach's stint in charge of a club is their results - and you can't really argue with Sherwood's up to now. Andre Villas-Boas was relieved of his duties after Spurs lost 5-0 at home to Liverpool on December the 16th and, ten league games later, Sherwood's Spurs have amassed 23 points in the Premier League. This average of 2.3 points per game is much better than Villas-Boas' return of 1.7 points per game. Granted, in that time, they've also been knocked out of both domestic cups but, let's be honest, it's the Premier League that matters high above all else this season. Spurs have gained ground on the top four in that time and now sit fifth in the table, three points behind Liverpool in fourth and only seven points off Chelsea at the table's summit. In that time, the club have won at Old Trafford against Manchester United and put together a run of consecutive league away wins that hasn't been equalled for 54 years. They also have the outright best away record in the league as a result. Sherwood has also got the best out of Emmanuel Adebayor in that time - which, along with the emergence of Nabil Bentaleb, has been key in this run of form - and that should not be underestimated. It's largely due to his leadership skills and no-nonsense approach, as already discussed. So there you have it - six reasons why Tim Sherwood is the right man for the Tottenham Hotspur job.
